The Hidden Power of Gratitude

Hey, What's Up! It's Tommy.
Happy Friday! I hope you've had an incredible week. Around here, summer is flying by. Between getting ready for our hometown Fireman's Festival, planning our Autism 5K, and spending time with family, life has been full. It reminded me how important community really is and how much serving others fills our hearts.
This week, I watched a video by Dr. Johnny Miles that shared 10 fascinating facts about the human body and brain. Some of the points challenged the way I think about stress, healing, sleep, gut health, and even gratitude. It sparked a much bigger conversation about autism, parenting, and how God designed us with incredible potential.
As parents of children with autism and other special needs, it's easy to hear information about stress or poor sleep and immediately feel discouraged. Many of us already carry more than we ever imagined possible. I know I do. My greatest fear has always been wondering who will care for my son if I'm no longer here.
Instead of staying trapped in those fears, I want to encourage you to look at something different. The same brain that can become overwhelmed by stress also has an incredible ability to heal, adapt, and grow. Through faith, gratitude, healthy habits, and intentional choices, we can begin changing the way we experience life.
We also discuss how nutrition affects behavior, especially in children on the autism spectrum. After years of trial and error with our own son, we've seen firsthand how certain foods impacted his mood and meltdowns. Every child is different, but understanding the connection between gut health and behavior can be an important piece of the puzzle.
This episode is a reminder that hope is still alive. Science continues to uncover amazing things about the human body, but none of it surprises the God who created us. We are fearfully and wonderfully made, and even during the hardest seasons, there is still room for healing, growth, and gratitude.
